Michael John Corgnati

02.07.1947 - 05.16.2017

With confidence, O Lord, we ask that eternal rest be granted to
Michael John Corgnati. Let the perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace.

With great sadness, the family of Michael John Corgnati announces the death of our beloved Michael on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at his home in Los Angeles. He was 70 years old.

Michael fought valiantly against pulmonary fibrosis for the last 2-3 years of his life. In spite of receiving stem cell treatment, which we believed could help him, he succumbed Tuesday, the 16th, to this disease of unknown cause. We are thankful that his suffering is over.

Michael has worked all of his life to help others. His vocation over time has involved people of all ages, including serving as staff member, coach, referee and umpire for young children at Lemon Grove Park in Hollywood, California. He was also the Public Relations Director for the Sugar Ray Robinson Youth Foundation, helping young inner city children in Los Angeles. For the past 12 years he has supported a humanitarian group, The Newland Institute which works with the United Nations to help eliminate suffering all over the world.

Michael served with distinction on the Board of Directors for the Admiral Jeremiah Denton Foundation, headed by the war hero and US Senator that arranged to get food, clothing and medicine to needy people worldwide. Additionally, Michael's TV Production company has done many commercials, Public Service spots and videos for groups such as the City of San Diego to promote their public libraries. For the past 14 years Michael has produced live and inspirational tributes to Mother Teresa worldwide.

Michael is survived by his wife Beatrice E. Corgnati of Van Nuys, California, and his brother Leino B. (Bart) Corgnati, Jr., his wife Donna of Durham, North Carolina, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Leino B. Corgnati and Angelina Romano Corgnati of Monmouth, Illinois.
Please keep Michael in your prayers. He is now at peace and has joined his dear Mother and Father, Angie and Moose, in the arms of our heavenly Father. The Angeleno Mortuary in Van Nuys, California is assisting with the planning for Michael’s funeral services.

A funeral Mass for Michael will be celebrated by his dear friend, Father Jim Melley, Monday, June 5, 2017, at 10:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 10800 Moorpark Street, North Hollywood, California 91602. Following Mass, Michael’s family and friends will gather at the St. Charles Social Center, 10830 Moorpark Street, to celebrate his life.

Planning is underway to take Michael’s remains back to his birthplace, Monmouth, Illinois. There will be a memorial service for him there at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Michael, via this link:,
