Sr. Carol Francis was born in East St Louis in 1934. In 1937, her family moved west to Southern California. Coming from a poor family, where as children an orange was their Christmas present, her mom wrote  home, “You won’t believe it; California has oranges in the gutter!”

Carol received her education at St. Ferdinand’s under the direction of the Sisters of Divine Providence. Following graduation, Carol met Sr. Davida Joseph. Through their friendship, Carol entered Community  in 1954. Over the years, Sister ministered in elementary education as a teacher and administrator throughout the Los Angeles Archdiocese—including 33 years as principal.

Sister had a strong sense of humor that brought laughter to any group. She made friends easily and many were life-long. Carol Francis was never bored; she loved to putter and considered herself “Queen of the  Putterers!”

We pray that the Lord will find plenty of puttering for her.    May she rest in peace.
