A special "Mass with the Pause Button" will take place at St. Mel Church, Woodland Hills on Sunday, October 30, at 1:30 PM with Fr. Vivian Ben Lima presiding.
Today we live in the age of 'information' (having progressed from the age of 'feelings') and people want to know and understand the theology behind the Sunday Celebration of the Mass and the concept of the Real Presence to better appreciate it. Many people are influenced by the Protestant culture around us and relegate the Mass to just another Sunday prayer fellowship or gathering, forgetting that it is the most transcendent of human activity and "...taking part in the Eucharistic Sacrifice, (which) is the fount and apex of the whole Christian life..." (LG), and that " ...the Most Blessed Eucharist contains the entire spiritual boon of the Church, that is Christ himself..." (CCC). Hopefully, this instructional Mass will help renew their understanding of the 'Real Presence' of Jesus in the Eucharist. Attending this Mass will fulfilll the Sunday obligation.
